So today Fiona and I went two hours outside of Santiago to goooooo...wait for it, wait for it!!! THE RODEO!
Well the chilean rodeo. I guess I should start from the beginning.
So I get to the bus station hoping that people will show up, b/c lucky for me...I dont have a phone. So I basically cant get in contact with anyone. The one person that I was definitely expecting to come was Fiona (I guess I should give you a background about her: she is from NYC and goes to Boise State, she is a former gymnast who loves to have fun)
Alright back to the story...so I am waiting at the airport and guess what???? Nobody shows up, I am like SHIT what am I suppose to do now??? This is like the only weekend that the rodeo is going on and I am definitely not going to miss it. So what I did was I bought a bus ticket, and decided that I was just going to go alone. Its only two hours away.
Fortunately, I finally got in touch with Fiona and she slept through her alarm. There was no way she was going to make it in time for the 12pm bus, but she tells me that she will still come. She will take the 2pm bus.
So now feeling a wholeeeee lot better that Fiona was coming, I was off to my journey to see what a chilean rodeo is all about. I get dropped off on a random street and begin to follow the signs that say rodeo.
This place is really tiny with no grass, but the incredible part was, was that it was surrounded by gorgeous mountains. I get there and decide to buy myself a hat and also to have lunch. I have a nice lunch by myself...its like this broth soup with a chunk of meat, potatoes, corn, and rice. It was seriously good. Then afterwards I began taking a whole lot of pictures. Then all of a sudden it hit me! I have to go to the bathroom, but I didnt want to pay 200 pesos to go to the bathroom. Fiona was coming soon so I decided to meet her at the bus stop, but on the way I popped a squat on the side of road and began to pee. It felt sooooo amazing.
So Fiona finally makes it to Olmué, Chile. We go back to the rodeo and she is hungry so I take her to the restaurant where we also proceeded to order a bottle of wine. I mean it was such an incredible relaxing day. We finally make it to the rodeo, its a small round stadium with bleachers made of wood. On the inside there was padding on the wall, the padding was used to throw the cows against the wall. Two cowboys on horses are surrounding a cow and throw the cow onto the padding. I still dont understand the point system. After a while we decide to leave and try to find the bus station. We finally get to the station and they told us that all the buses were sold out!!! We were like SHIT what are we going to do??? Determined to go home, we went to the bus driver, gave him our million dollar smile and pleaded. He gives in and we get a seat on the bus!!!! Yaaa so we made it home and just had an incredible time with my new adventure buddy, Fiona!
