I would like to first apologize for lacking on the posting, I will try better these next couple of weeks.
I was thinking to myself that my program is coming close to an end and I still have never explored my own personal neighborhood. So today my friend and I went exploring around my neighborhood, Los Dominicos. Now this neighbor is extremely nice compared to the other neighborhoods in Santiago. What was great about going with my friend is a) he is chilean so I got to practice my spanish and b) he lives in that neighborhood so I could not get lost.
So we started off going up the hill where the nice houses reside. These houses are absolutely gorgeous, and each one has their own unique flair. There was pretty much not one of the same houses. This neighborhood is extremely nice, you would not even guess that you were in Santiago. I felt like I was in a different country, not really sure where, but a different country.
We walked soooo much, that we totally lost track of time and where we were. We probably were wandering for about three hours exploring all of what Las Condes has to offer. My friend also has never been to some of the places that we discovered. It was such a perfect day to go exploring.
He also took me to the part of the neighborhood to see how 90% of chileans live. Many people live in social housing that the government built and gave to families. Most of the apartments hold more than one family. It was interesting to see that no matter where I go in this world there will always be people with status and money and people who have nothing.
